Meeting - December 11, 2003 - Wireless Internet
Technical and marketing gurus, Al, Mark, and Scott from TelAlaska, Inc. gave a most excellent presentation of their pioneering new service for wireless Internet access. TelAlaska uses Wi-Fi, wireless fidelity, to enable laptop and PDA users to access the Internet without the need for a wired connection at all.
By simply adding a wireless access card to your computer or PDA, you can log on to the Internet from any TelAlaska hotspot in the Anchorage bowl. Or, by creating an access point in your own home or business, you will be able to roam from room to room and even outdoors without losing access to the Internet.

Meeting - September 11, 2003 - TiVo - The ONLY way to watch TV
Local guru Joe Hruska gave us a spectacular introduction to the wonderful world of DVR (Digital Video Recording). TiVo is one of the most popular and readily available DVR systems available on the market today. It combines simplicity with a large number of powerful features in a home media device that will make you wonder how you ever watched TV without it! "TiVo is a service that automatically records your favorite shows every time they air, even if the time slot changes. Watch what you want, when you can." (From the TiVo web site).
Joe says, “I have to admit, at first I was a skeptic. I really did not see the need for a TiVo. I had a VCR, I used it every once in a while to record shows that I wanted to watch. Well, I can guarantee you, one week with a TiVo - and you will never want to watch TV without one again.”
Joe Hruska is a local IT consultant for Integrity Solutions, Inc. Joe loves working with new technologies and is a home automation hobbyist. Joe has been playing with and ‘hacking’ TiVo systems for the past two years.
